The Cancer Patient Experience Survey 2016 results show that 90% of respondents said that they were given the name of a clinical nurse specialist who would support them through their treatment. NHS England is working alongside Health Education England to expand the number of Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) and develop clear CNS competencies and routes into training. This will ensure every cancer patient has access to a CNS or other support worker by 2021.
