Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment her Department made of the potential merits of reviewing the Teachers' Pension Scheme abatement rules, specifically those rules relating to teacher’s pension and re-employment earnings exceeding the salary of reference.
Retired teachers are allowed to return to the profession and accrue further pension.
The Department reviewed the abatement provisions as part of scheme reforms and removed abatement for any service accrued under the career average scheme.
