Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many non-repayable bursaries the Government has allocated to support trainee teachers in the last year; and what the value was of those bursaries.

In the academic year 2016/17, the Government awarded 16,637 bursaries to post graduate trainee teachers at a cost of £191,022,000. In addition, 326 scholarships were awarded at a cost of £8,725,000.
