The Foreign Secretary hopes to visit Iran later this year where he will have discussions on a variety of topics, including on human rights issues. The human rights situation in Iran is of serious concern and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office continues to designate Iran as a human rights priority country. The case of Mohammad Ali Taheri is an example of how the Iranian authorities routinely deny their citizens the freedom to choose and practice their own religion or belief.
