Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in varying amounts in soil, food, and drink, including drinking water supplies. Currently approximately six million people in England live in areas with a water fluoridation scheme where the fluoride concentration has been adjusted, in line with legal limits, to help reduce tooth decay.
