Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what steps he is taking to ensure that the General Medical Council releases papers on the pre-signing of HSA1 certificates by doctors to the police for investigation under the Offences Against the Person Act 1861 and Perjury Act 1911.

The General Medical Council (GMC) is independent of Government. The release of papers held by the GMC on the pre-signing of HSA1 certificates by doctors, is a matter for the GMC and the police.
