Ban foreign media ownership, enact a social media levy & new regulatory reform - 17,849 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 23,461 - 73 added in the past 24hrs)

Pass law to ban foreign & offshore ownership of UK media, enact a social-media levy to distribute media ownership across society & fund independent, local & cooperative-owned media. We believe democracy is failing as the media & political power are owned by a tiny rich elite.

The Government responsed to this petition on 26th May 2026 (View Full Response)
The Government is committed to supporting a free and fair press. The media mergers regime bans foreign state influence and ownership. There are no current plans for a statutory press regulator.

Protect the Right to Live Without a Digital ID - 22,241 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 22,797 - 30 added in the past 24hrs)

I want a legal safeguard in all digital-ID laws that guarantees no one can be denied work, healthcare, banking, housing, or any other service for not having a government digital ID. Use must remain voluntary, and non-digital alternatives must always be available to prevent exclusion or pressure..

The Government responsed to this petition on 17th March 2026 (View Full Response)
The Government is introducing a Digital ID system and will legislate for it to be voluntary, and free to access for anyone who wants it. The Government is consulting on the design of that scheme.
Open Petition since 30th January 2026

Introduce prison sentences for deliberate cruelty to wild birds including pigeon - 21,877 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 22,482 - 13 added in the past 24hrs)

We call on the UK Government to amend existing wildlife and animal welfare legislation to introduce custodial prison sentences for any individual who deliberately goes out with the intention of injuring or killing wild bird, specifically including pigeons, using catapults or similar weapons.

The Government responsed to this petition on 23rd February 2026 (View Full Response)
There are existing laws to prohibit killing or injuring wild birds, including pigeons, which can carry a custodial sentence. The government is actively considering the issue of misuse of catapults.

Codify rules for MPs' attendance in Parliament & their constituency in statute - 19,964 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 22,187 - 18 added in the past 24hrs)

Codify in statute clear and binding obligations for MPs on time spent in their constituency and in Parliament. We think that leaving it to convention unfortunately allows a minority to abuse the system.

Allow airlines, under DEFRA guidance, to offer an in-cabin travel option for small, fully documented pets on flights entering the UK, in line with international standards for other countries.

The Government responsed to this petition on 13th May 2026 (View Full Response)
All pets entering GB must be checked for compliance with our biosecurity requirements. Complex operational arrangements at airports mean that most pets must travel in the hold to facilitate this.

Do not remove the 10% wear and tear allowance for childminders from April 2026 - 19,932 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 19,963 - 3 added in the past 24hrs)

Retain the 10% wear and tear allowance for childminders, or introduce an equivalent alternative that reflects the additional household costs of providing regulated childcare from home and helps ensure childminding remains financially sustainable.

The Government responsed to this petition on 18th March 2026 (View Full Response)
Childminders, like any other business, can continue to get full tax relief on the business proportion of their expenses.

Reduce VAT on hospitality to 10%: protect jobs, communities & UK competitiveness - 11,852 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 19,748 - 189 added in the past 24hrs)

Reduce VAT on hospitality to 10% to prevent closures & protect tax revenue. When venues close, HMRC loses 100% of its VAT, business rates, PAYE & corporation tax, reducing employment & supply chains. We believe a lower VAT rate would keep viable businesses trading, securing jobs & ongoing revenue.

Open Petition since 13th April 2026

Introduce legislation to make it possible to renumerate emergency volunteers - 8,688 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 19,614 - 510 added in the past 24hrs)

In our view, following the Groom vs Maritime and Coastguard Agency case, the Government needs to recognise the essential role volunteers play in the emergency service sector by introducing legislation allowing organisations to remunerate emergency volunteers whilst preserving its volunteer status.

Protect legal right to support for children with SEND - 14,685 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 19,218 - 37 added in the past 24hrs)

I believe that the Government’s proposed SEND reforms could limit EHCPs, weaken legal rights, replace individual plans with packages, reduce appeals, and remove school choice. In my view, children could be left without the support they need as a result.
