Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, whether his Department has contingency plans to reallocate funding and construction slots within the New Hospital Programme where projects in earlier phases are (a) delayed and (b) unable to progress.

The New Hospital Programme is focused on delivering the Plan for Implementation, published in January 2025, and is prioritising delivery of Wave 1 schemes but ensuring that Wave 2 schemes are being supported as appropriate. For Kettering, this includes essential enabling works such as a new Energy Centre and site upgrades, to ensure readiness to proceed either to the timetable in the Plan for Implementation, with main construction scheduled to start between 2032 to 2034, or sooner if the opportunity arises.
We do not have plans at present to change the delivery schedule, however, as noted in the Plan for Implementation, delivery expectations may be subject to change and the programme reserves the right to adjust the delivery plan as schemes develop in the future.

The standard process confirming the total funding amount for major infrastructure projects involves the review and approval of a Full Business Case. All trusts in the programme have previously received indicative funding allocations to support planning, however these are commercially sensitive.
Up to the end of the 2023/24 the total amount received by the Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in funding for their new hospital scheme is £9.4 million.
The breakdown of how much the trust received for their new hospital scheme is published annually as part of the Department’s Annual Reports and Accounts, with Public Dividend Capital to individual Trusts included in the Financial Assistance Report under section 40 of the National Health Service Act 2006.
