Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:
What recent assessment she has made of the effect on manufacturing industry of the UK leaving the EU.
Answered by Andrea Leadsom
I have met with manufacturing businesses at roundtables across the country to encourage them to get ready for Brexit and the opportunities beyond.
The recent opening of Jaguar Land Rover’s £500 million Advanced Product Creation Centre is a real vote of confidence in the UK’s future as a stronger, greener economy after we have left the European Union.

Question to the Ministry of Defence:
What steps her Department is taking to protect the UK from hybrid threats by hostile states and actors.
Answered by Lord Lancaster of Kimbolton
Hybrid threats present themselves in many domains. Therefore, we utilise a ‘whole of government’ approach to protecting the UK against such activity. The MOD works collaboratively with other government departments, in line with Fusion Doctrine, to support this approach.
It is important that the UK continues to work with and support our international partners in NATO and the EU, contributing to and drawing upon the different tools of these organisations to protect against hybrid threats.

Question to the Department for Exiting the European Union :
To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, what estimate he has made of the number of new regulatory bodies which will be required once the UK leaves the EU; and what the role of each such body will be.
Answered by Steve Baker
We are seeking a deep and special partnership with the European Union. Our relationship with the European Union's agencies and bodies upon exit will be evaluated on this basis.
Prior to any decisions on establishing new UK-level bodies, the Government will, however, always look to minimise disruption and costs, which will include considering alternative options. In most cases we anticipate that repatriated EU functions can be absorbed by departments and existing public bodies.
We will continue to plan for a range of scenarios and be ready to take any necessary steps to ensure that we are ready for exit day.

Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, if he will make an assessment of the potential merits of granting local communities the right to veto wind farm applications.
Answered by Lord Wharton of Yarm
The Conservative election manifesto committed to give local people the final say on onshore wind farm applications. The new considerations to be applied to proposed wind energy development were set out in the Written Statement of 18 June, HCWS 42. Onshore wind turbines should only get the go-ahead when and where local people have said they want them.
