Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whether (a) Marcus Hutchins who is a constituent of the hon. Member for North Devon and awaiting trial in the US is receiving adequate consular assistance and (b) the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is providing support for his family in Ilfracombe.

Consular staff in the US have been providing consular assistance to Marcus Hutchins since his arrest in August 2017, in line with what the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) can offer British nationals overseas which is set out in our public guideSupport for British nationals abroad: A guide’. Consular staff will continue to offer support to Mr Hutchins and liaise with US local authorities to gain regular updates on his case. Consular staff have also provided assistance to Mr Hutchins’ mother since his arrest.
