To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, what discussions he has had with the Welsh Government on supporting narrow gauge railway tourism in Wales.

Narrow gauge railways, like Rhyl Miniature Railway, are an important aspect of our tourism sector and it is vital they are supported. Although tourism is devolved in Wales, the UK Government invested approximately £18 million in funding during COVID to over 60 heritage steam organisations through the Culture Recovery Fund.

The rural and hospitality sectors form the backbone of the Welsh economy. The Eat Out to Help out Scheme helped protect two million Welsh jobs. This - alongside cutting VAT, months of furlough for staff, and incentives to keep workers in jobs - demonstrates the benefits to Wales of being part of the Union.

What recent steps the Government has taken to promote (a) inward tourism and (b) foreign direct investment in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Last year, over 3000 jobs came to Wales through Foreign Direct Investment, through 57 projects of which 93% were supported by both my department and the Department for International Trade.

Between 2015 and 2018, the UK attracted more foreign direct investment in capital investment than France and Germany combined.

I fully support the campaign to return His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales' regalia to Wales, in this the 40th Anniversary Year of the Prince’s Trust. There has been a lot of interest in this for a number of years and I welcome the agreement of HM the Queen for the symbolic regalia to be displayed in Llandovery.
