Friend is right: there is a perverse disincentive in the current contract in that under the UDA dentists are not paid in relation to the level of activity or work they have to do for an appointment. That is the nub of the problem and we are in discussions with the British Dental Association right now; it is reviewing our proposals and we hope to have news very soon.
People with dementia deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. There are ways to enable those living with dementia to lead the lives they want.
