Written Question
Television Licences: Armed Forces
Thursday 27th April 2017

Asked by: Johnny Mercer (Conservative - Plymouth, Moor View)

Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, whether she has made an assessment of the potential merits of ceasing the requirement for those serving in the military to hold a television licence at both their home and base addresses.

Answered by Matt Hancock

No such assessment has been made. The legal requirements around the television licence are set out in the Communications Act 2003 and the Communications (Television Licensing) Regulations 2004/692. Further details can be found via http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/
