Answered by Victoria Atkins - Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

The Government does not collect data differentiating the pay between LGBT people and non-LGBT people and this data is not widely collected by employers.

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what plans her Department has to make British medical aid available to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The UK funds the delivery of life-saving medical services in Iraq, including in the Kurdistan Region. This support is delivered through a number of partners including the Iraq Humanitarian Pooled Fund and the International Organisation for Migration. Through our response to the conflict in Mosul we are helping to alleviate the pressure on the Kurdistan Region’s medical services.

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what steps her Department has taken to support the G7 Initiative on Climate Risk Insurance; and what assessment her Department has made of progress towards the target of expanding insurance coverage to 400 million people by 2020.

DFID has a large and growing disaster risk finance and insurance portfolio, with up to £136m approved or invested to date. This includes our £100 million contribution to the Africa Risk Capacity, which aims to reach 150 million people by 2020. The G7 are setting up an expert group to develop indicators to measure progress against the ‘Insuresilience’ target, against which all G7 members, including the UK, will report progress.

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what support her Department is providing to aid agencies and international partners to prepare Syrian refugee camps for winter.

The UK has been at the forefront of the response to the crisis in Syria and the region. We have pledged over £1.1 billion to date, our largest ever response to a single humanitarian crisis. We are the second largest bilateral donor after the US.

DFID is supporting 11 implementing partners to prepare and respond to the onset of winter across Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. This financial year, we have provided £221 million to these 11 partners to support their emergency programmes, of which £12.9 million has been committed for specific winter response activities such as the provision of warm clothing, thermal blankets, fuel and cash to support thousands of vulnerable families across the region.

DFID provides humanitarian assistance which includes provision of support to UNHCR and other actors, such as NGOs, who are responsible for delivering assistance to refugees across the world. This includes in DRC, Somalia, South Sudan and other countries. We are closely monitoring the humanitarian situation in Libya, including the situation of refugees and internally displaced people.
