Written Question
Business: Regulation
Monday 4th November 2024

Asked by: Lord Johnson of Lainston (Conservative - Life peer)

Question to the Department for Business and Trade:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether they plan to ensure that all economic regulators comply with the growth mandate outlined in the Smart Regulation White Paper, published in May (CP 1089).

Answered by Baroness Jones of Whitchurch - Baroness in Waiting (HM Household) (Whip)

The Government is committed to ensuring that our approach to economic regulation supports growth. As part of delivering on the growth mission, all economic regulators are in the scope of the growth duty and the Growth Duty Performance Framework.

The framework is a valuable tool that will help government to deliver economic growth by improving accountability and transparency of the performance of various regulators, including economic regulators.
