Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the suitability of Victoria Tower Gardens in London as a location for a new Holocaust memorial.
Answered by Lord Bourne of Aberystwyth
The UK Holocaust Memorial Foundation conducted an extensive search of central London locations before recommending Victoria Tower Gardens as the site for the proposed Memorial and Learning Centre. The Government agreed with the Foundation's recommendation and in January 2016 the then Prime Minister announced that the Memorial would be built in Victoria Tower Gardens, standing beside Parliament as a permanent statement of our values as a nation.
