Lords ChamberI am sorry that I do not have chapter and verse with me, but the Electoral Commission has called for voter ID since 2014. As I said, Northern Ireland has used it for nearly 40 years.
I find it quite extraordinary that polling station procedures in Great Britain are virtually the same today as they were when I started voting 50 years ago. It is quite remarkable.
If the system works well, why change it? I thought it was a good Conservative principle that, when it is not necessary to change, it is necessary not to change.
The world has changed very considerably in the past half a century.

The Prime Minister has not actually resigned. She has merely indicated that she will not lead the second stage of the negotiations.
I am aware of the fact that she has not literally gone today, but she is going very shortly.
