Written Question
Tropical Forest Forever Facility
Wednesday 5th August 2026

Asked by: Earl of Courtown (Conservative - Life peer)

Question to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether the allocated funding to be given to the Tropical Forests Forever Fund will be turned into a loan to pay for the announcement made by the Prime Minister on 22 July to reintroduce the £2 bus fare cap.

Answered by Baroness Curran - Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero)

The Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) represents a critical evolution in forests finance. Switching funding that had been set aside for international climate finance projects from grants into loans allows DENSZ to make £400m of financial transactions available to support the government's intention to invest in international climate finance projects, which could include projects such as TFFF. I will keep the House updated on the Government’s decision to invest into TFFF.
