Introduce offshore detention/mass deportation for illegal migrants - 670,797 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 686,097 - 183 added in the past 24hrs)

The Government should seek to establish offshore detention facilities for individuals who enter the UK illegally, to process them and arrange their deportation.

Do not merge section 1 & 2 regulations on firearms licenses - 78,167 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 439,033 - 14,039 added in the past 24hrs)

Keep section 1 firearm & section 2 shotgun licensing separate. I think this would help to protect law-abiding owners, the shooting industry, & rural communities. Policies should focus on real public safety issues without burdening responsible citizens or damaging heritage & livelihoods.

The Government is already taking action to increase the collection and transparency of data on the demographic characteristics of individuals responsible for group-based child sexual exploitation.

Keep 5-Year ILR and Restrict Access to Benefits for New ILR Holders - 225,276 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 239,128 - 92 added in the past 24hrs)

The Government should keep the current 5-year route to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and restrict access to government benefits for new ILR holders.

As set out in the Immigration White Paper, the default qualifying period doubles to 10 years. We welcome views on other measures, including access to benefits, via the earned settlement consultation.

Keep 5-year ILR terms to Hong Kong British National (Overseas) visas - 114,568 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 114,614 - 7 added in the past 24hrs)

We urge the Government to exempt BN(O) visa for Hongkongers from the proposed immigration reforms. We think the current ILR terms must remain unchanged:

1. Five years of UK residency
2. B1 level English proficiency
3. Passing the Life in the UK Test

End testing on dogs and other animals for development of products for human use - 46,570 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 93,157 - 1,594 added in the past 24hrs)

Many tests on dogs and other animals cause unimaginable suffering. They can translate poorly into effective treatments and cures for human diseases or provide safety and efficacy data that is not relevant to humans.

The Government responsed to this petition on 13th November 2025 (View Full Response)
The use of animals for development of products for human use remains necessary. The Government therefore does not agree to end testing on dogs and other animals for testing and research purposes.
Open Petition since 23rd October 2025

Make it an offence to carry a catapult in public without lawful defence - 35,236 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 36,994 - 14 added in the past 24hrs)

Change the law so catapult possession in public is an offence. Currently, police must prove intent or use to cause harm. We propose it becomes an absolute offence, like air rifles, without lawful defence. Rising attacks on people, animals, and wildlife show stronger powers are needed.

The Government responsed to this petition on 16th December 2025 (View Full Response)
There are laws that can already be used against individuals who use catapults as a weapon, but the Government understands the concerns and is actively looking at this issue.
Open Petition since 13th August 2025

Hold a referendum on introducing mandatory identity cards in the UK - 23,307 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 24,083 - 16 added in the past 24hrs)

We urge the Government to hold a referendum on any proposal to introduce identity cards, including the proposed “BritCard.” We oppose the implementation of a mandatory national identity card system, as we believe it could risk turning personal identification into a tool for state control.

The Government responsed to this petition on 20th October 2025 (View Full Response)
We have no plans to hold a referendum on the new digital identity scheme. There will be other ways for people to join a national conversation, including through a forthcoming consultation.
Open Petition since 4th November 2025

Keep the 5-Year ILR pathway for existing ECAA visa holders - 8,521 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 19,173 - 78 added in the past 24hrs)

We ask the UK Government to keep the 5-year route to Indefinite Leave to Remain for former ECAA (Turkish Businessperson) visa holders. Extending it to 10 years breaks previous commitments and unfairly affects those who built lives and businesses in the UK.
