Limit enforcement of school attendance for parents of SEN children
- 64 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 165 - 3 added in the past 24hrs)
We want the Government to prevent schools from being able to take enforcement action against parents of SEN children, where they have taken their child out of school because their child's needs are not being met.
Situate Psychologists in Local Authority Children's Social Care Teams.
- 147 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 162 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
The Government should fund psychological consultation and advisory teams within Children Services to guide practice where parents struggle to manage challenging behaviour, due to past adversity & trauma. This could ensure interventions are applied correctly without any blame and shame.
Do not exclude over 60s from tuition fee loans from 2025
- 67 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 160 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
The UK retirement age is ever increasing, and we believe capping student finance eligibility for student loans at age 60 unfairly discriminates against older people who wish to reskill in order to continue to improve their work capability post age 60.
Stop colleges from banning students from wearing the niqab
- 158 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 159 - 3 added in the past 24hrs)
I want the government to give Muslim women the right to be able to veil and dress the way they want in colleges by stopping colleges from banning students from wearing the niqab. Muslim women should have the right to cover up in an education establishment.
Mandatory qualified counsellors in all secondary schools in England.
- 152 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 157 - 2 added in the past 24hrs)
Each school needs full-time qualified counsellors. Taking action to tackle anxieties and mental health issues early may improve school attendance. I think the Government is too reliant on unqualified practitioners and is relying on the charitable sector to provide support in schools.
Increase funding for maintenance of school buildings and building new schools
- 138 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 151 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
We think the Government should increase funding to ensure that:
1) All schools have sufficient money to spend on maintenance, and
2) There is a clear ongoing programme of building new schools to replace old, unsuitable or temporary buildings.
Ban schools from giving detentions to students
- 21 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 146 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
I think the Government should ban schools being able to give pupils detentions.
Fund vocational educational courses for people with learning difficulties
- 135 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 141 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
Make access to vocational educational courses available to all young people, regardless of limitations. I was disheartened to find that the criteria for many vocational educational courses effectively exclude people with learning difficulties.
Make students at medical schools work for the NHS for at least 5 years
- 126 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 141 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
We believe the NHS desperately needs more doctors. We think too many doctors graduating from universities go overseas to earn more money, or never even work as a doctor at all.
Increase student finance to reflect increased cost of living
- 119 Signatures
(Estimated Final Signatures: 139 - 1 added in the past 24hrs)
University students are seeing high increases in rent prices. However, student finance, that is meant to help with housing, utilities and food, is not always enough to support students financially. We want the Government to increase student finance to a greater extent.
