The petition of residents of the constituency of Redditch,
Declares that the lack of a publicly accessible front desk at Redditch Police and Fire Station prevents members of the community from accessing a vital public service.
The petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons urges the Government to review the provision of a publicly accessible front desk at Redditch Police and Fire Station to ensure adequate and accessible policing is available to the people of Redditch.
And the petitioners remain, etc.—[Presented by Chris Bloore, Official Report, 3 September 2026; Vol. 790, c. 549.]

Observations from the Minister for Policing and Crime (Sarah Jones):
The Government recognise the importance of ensuring that the public can access policing services. Decisions on police stations and front desks are operational matters for chief constables and police and crime commissioners, who are best placed to determine how policing services are delivered locally.
The Government’s priority is ensuring the public can access visible and responsive neighbourhood policing, regardless of how local forces organise their estates. Through the neighbourhood policing guarantee, we are reversing more than a decade of decline in visible policing, with over 3,800 additional officers and police community support officers now in neighbourhood roles and named contactable officers in every community. As of 31 March 2026, West Mercia police had grown by 47 full time-equivalent neighbourhood officers since March 2025.
