Regulation 2(2) to (5) amends the Loans for Mortgage Interest Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/725) to provide that a claimant will not be required to repay their support for mortgage interest loan on sale of the relevant accommodation, if they meet specified conditions.

Regulation 2 of these Regulations amends Schedule 4 to the Loans for Mortgage Interest Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/725) to remove the requirement for qualifying lenders to pay a fee to the Secretary of State in respect of each occasion on which a payment is made directly to the qualifying lender.

These Regulations amend the Universal Credit (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2014 (S.I. 2014/1230) (“the 2014 Regulations”) and the Universal Credit Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/376) (“the 2013 Regulations”). They simplify and extend the transitional protection for children and qualifying young persons born before 6th April 2017, the date when limits in relation to the child element in universal credit came into force.
