As a female living in the UK at times I can’t afford monthly period products. We believe it's time the Government made period products free to access for women who have no choice in having periods.
Period poverty affects many women and girls in the UK:
- According to Plan International UK, one in ten girls cannot afford sanitary products.
- A survey conducted by Plan International UK found that 49% of girls have missed an entire day of school because they couldn't afford period products.
A 2019 study found a woman spends £10.24 per month on menstrual products, adding up to £4,916 during an average reproductive lifetime.
