We do not have a breakdown by project category of future spend. Programme allocations are continually reviewed to respond to changing global needs, including humanitarian crises, fluctuations in GNI and other ODA allocation decisions.
We do have information on project category spend for previous calendar years which is published in the statistics on international development. This data is based on calendar year not financial year and covers the whole of HMG. Please see below data based on 2022, the last available calendar year.

To ask His Majesty's Government what plans they have to draw on academic expertise to help deliver financially sustainable rail infrastructure in developing countries.

The FCDO funds academic research into transport in Low- and Middle-Income Countries. Rail examples include 1) the High-Volume Transport programme supporting modelling on the viability of hydrogen engines for rail lines in Africa and research into more resilient infrastructure and systems, including rail; and 2) the ieConnect programme evaluating mobility impacts of rail construction in Dakar, Senegal. Both programmes' research includes safety and accessibility of trains for women, girls and people with disabilities.
The Green Cities and Infrastructure Centre of Expertise will use this evidence to advise partner governments on infrastructure policies and investments in large scale urban infrastructure projects.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps he is taking to encourage more women to cycle.

Active Travel England (ATE) provides £2 million per year to the Big Bike Revival project, which focuses cycling activities on underrepresented groups, such as women. In 2022/23, 59% of participants in Big Bike Revival were female.
ATE also provides funding to local authorities to enable women and other underrepresented groups to increase levels of cycling through the Capability Fund. Design guidance for new infrastructure, such as that funded through the Active Travel Fund, requires that new schemes are accessible to all users, including women. Bids must demonstrate that the safety and confidence of women had been factored into the design of active travel schemes.

The October ‘Plan for Drivers’ outlined how government is working to improve the driving experience for everyone
DfT’s strategic priorities for improving access for disabled people were set out in the 2018 Inclusive Transport Strategy
In the PM’s ‘Network North’ announcement, £350m was made available for Access for All rail schemes in the five years from 2024/25, in addition to the £900m committed since 2006.

To ask His Majesty's Government, further to the recent survey conducted by the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union, which found that 40 per cent of women public transport workers have been sexually harassed at work, what steps they are taking to combat sexual harassment in the transport sector and prevent it from worsening.

As part of the 2021 cross-government tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy, the government appointed the independent VAWG Transport Champions. In March 2022, the VAWG Transport Champions published 13 recommendations which have been crucial in informing the work of DfT on tackling VAWG on transport.
The safety and security of female rail workers is and will continue to be of paramount importance for the Government and for train operators. The Department funds the national Rail Delivery Group ‘Zero Tolerance’ campaign against sexual harassment on the railway. The campaign aims to educate passengers and staff of what constitutes sexual harassment and informs people of the action they can take to report it if they witness it or are a victim themselves. A dedicated CrimeStoppers line is in operation for all those who wish to report anonymously.
The British Transport Police will investigate every report of sexual harassment on the railway; incidents can be reported to British Transport Police via text on 61016, via the Railway Guardian App, online, or in an emergency by dialling 999.
All Train Operators are also required to develop, maintain and implement a Safeguarding on Rail Scheme, accredited by the British Transport Police.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what steps his Department are taking to increase the number of women working in the maritime industry.

The Department is committed to increasing the number of women working in the maritime sector.
We support the Diversity in Maritime Taskforce’s Women’s Network focus on increasing the number of women in maritime and providing practical skills and advice through a range of initiatives, including a Menopause Hub; a Working Parent support group and increasing the representation of women through speaker and interview banks.
Furthermore, Maritime UK’s Careers Taskforce runs school-based initiatives such as the DfT-Merchant Navy Welfare Board funded Maritime Roadshow for Girls which promotes STEM and maritime careers to 11-14 year olds.
DfT also promotes women in maritime though participation in the International Day for Women in Maritime, celebrated annually in May.
