Large Goods Vehicles: Urban Areas

Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many local authorities have banned the use of heavy goods vehicles during peak hours in city centres; and what assessment they have made of whether there is evidence that doing so enhances the safety of cyclists.

No assessment regarding the number of authorities which have banned these vehicles or of the effect of such policies has been made by the Department for Transport. Decisions on all aspects of traffic management policy and the promotion of road safety for cyclists are the responsibility of local traffic authorities.
