Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:
To ask Her Majesty’s Government what impact the badger cull has had on the number of TB cases reported in Somerset.
The latest statistics for the whole county of Somerset indicate that the total annual cattle herd incidence of tuberculosis fell from 7.58% in 2012 to 6.96% in 2014. Statistics for the whole of 2015 will be published shortly.

The Animal and Plant Health Agency report of the incidence of tuberculosis in cattle in 2013-14 in the limited part of Somerset exposed to the first year of industry-led badger culling was published on 28 August 2015. The report is annexed to the Bovine TB Surveillance Report for England 2014, which can be found on the GOV.UK website by searching for ‘Bovine TB surveillance in England’.
