NHS England continues to work with integrated care boards to ensure that there are retention plans in place to maintain the vaccination workforce through their lead employers to support future vaccination campaigns. There have been almost 30,000 people retained from the COVID-19 vaccination programme into wider health and care training and career pathways in England. Over 2,000 people have joined as NHS Reservists to support during times of surge to ensure there is resilience in the vaccination workforce as well as the wider National Health Service.
