The UK's legal basis for military action in Iraq is the consent of the Government of Iraq. The UK's legal basis for military action in Syria is the collective self-defence of Iraq. Daesh continue to pose a threat to Iraq both within and from over the Syrian border and therefore our legal basis for military action remains extant.
