All UK Government civil servants are expected to adhere to the principles set out in the Civil Service Code. Civil servants working for the Scottish and Welsh Governments, and their agencies, have their own versions of the code. As stated in the Civil Service Code all UK officials are required to 'keep accurate official records and handle information as openly as possible within the legal framework'.
