Specific information on cholesterol and its impact on health can be accessed by the public through the NHS Choices website.

Information on cholesterol as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease was also shared directly with 4.3 million people between 40 and 74 years between April 2013 and December 2014 as part of the NHS Health Check invitation. Over the same period, over 2 million of those invited also benefited from a cholesterol check and a discussion about cardiovascular disease as part of the NHS Health Check.
