Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask Her Majesty's Government when they expect to legislate to ban lettings agent fees.

We are committed to banning letting fees to improve transparency, affordability and competition in the private rental market. We published the draft Tenant Fees Bill and the response to the public consultation on banning tenant fees on 1 November. The draft Bill sets out the Government's implementation approach. Publishing the Bill in draft will enable further scrutiny of our proposals by Parliament and stakeholders, which will help to prevent any unintended negative consequences. We will provide more information on the implementation timetable following scrutiny of the draft Bill.
