Question to the Home Office

To ask Her Majesty's Government what proportion of fees set by the Home Office for settlement checking services at local councils were (1) retained by local councils, and (2) retained by the Home Office, in each month since 2010.

Answer (Baroness Williams of Trafford)

The Home Office does not set the fee for the settlement checking service or retain any part of it. These fees are set and kept locally by individual local authorities under their wellbeing provisions.
