Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government, in the light of the Staffordshire Distressed Health Economy report by KPMG, what is their assessment of the ability of the Clinical Commissioning Groups to manage the risks posed by outsourcing to the cancer and end-of-life programme in Staffordshire for a 10-year period.

This question was answered on 9th June 2015

NHS England advises that the Transforming Cancer and End of Life Programme in Staffordshire is a partnership between four clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), two local authorities, NHS England and Macmillan Cancer Support. Resources and expertise have been provided over and above current CCG resource by Macmillan Cancer Support to mitigate any risks to delivery from capacity and capability gaps.

Staffordshire CCGs did not stipulate that private sector providers should be part of the successful consortium.
