Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether they have made any assessment of whether the replacement of Class 170 diesel multiple units by Class 156 units on the TransPennine franchise has resulted in a change in the quality of service; and if so, whether it has changed for better or worse.

The decision to move the Class 170 diesel multiple units from the TransPennine Express franchise was a commercial one made by their owner Porterbrook Rail Leasing.
