The application for the Network Rail (Werrington Grade Separation) Order 2018 was submitted to the Department under the Transport and Works Act 1992 on 22 December 2016. Following a number of objections to this application a decision was issued by the Secretary of State in March 2017 that a Public Inquiry would be held. This took place in November 2017. The Inspector’s Report of the Inquiry was received by the Secretary of State in March 2018. The Secretary of State’s decision was issued on 27 July 2018.

There are no statutory deadlines for making a decision under the Transport and Works Act. The Department aims to process applications as soon as practicable but it is important that applications, including any representations received, are properly considered before a decision is issued.
