In July 2021 we published the Transport Decarbonisation Plan – the first such Plan in the world – which sets the transport sector on the path to net zero by 2050. Since then we have already started delivering on its commitments, including confirming that the UK will introduce a zero emission vehicle mandate from 2024, end the sale of new, non-zero emission HGVs less than or equal to 26 tonnes by 2035 and that from 2040 all new HGVs must be fully zero emission at the tailpipe and put £180m investment into sustainable aviation fuel demonstration plants across the UK to deliver our ambition for 10% sustainable aviation fuels by 2030.
