Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many (a) current and (b) former (i) employees and (ii) board members of the Office of Road and Rail receive concessionary rail travel.

The Office of Road and Rail (ORR) does not provide free or concessionary rail travel to its employees, board members or their families. Consequently, ORR has not incurred any cost for such arrangements in any of the last five years.

Six current ORR employees, as a result of their previous employment in the railway industry, are eligible for concessionary travel under the Rail Staff Travel Limited scheme, operated by the Association of Train Operating Companies. ORR administers the salary deductions on behalf of those employees but does not otherwise subsidise the arrangements.

The remuneration, including other benefits, paid to ORR directors and board members is detailed and published in ORR’s annual reports which are laid before Parliament each year. A link to the most recent annual report can be found at:
