Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what items of surplus personal protective equipment his Department has placed for sale to other NATO countries via e-portal and from which original suppliers; what items have been sold to date; and what the original cost to the public purse was of purchasing those items.
Earlier in the year, the Department placed the following items of surplus personal protective equipment for sale to other NATO countries via the e-portal:
- One type of goggles supplied by Jingdong E Commerce; and
- Two types of gowns supplied by China National Instrumentation Ltd and Inivos Ltd.
No items were sold and these have now been withdrawn from the e-portal. The total value of the items listed on the portal was:
- Jingdong E Commerce – £1,338,000;
- China National Instrumentation Ltd - £5,364,000; and
- Inivos - £1,467,000.
