Small Businesses: Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Renewable Energy

Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, how much public funding his Department has provided to SMEs to (a) transition to renewable energy and (b) reach net zero since December 2019.

The Government is continuing to support UK businesses to meet their net zero commitments via the UK Business Climate Hub. Alongside providing advice and guidance on net zero, small UK businesses are encouraged to join the UN’s ‘Race to Zero’ initiative – a global effort to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases to zero by 2050. Currently, more than 3,639 UK small businesses have joined the Race to Zero.

The new £450 million Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) offers grants up to £6,000 towards heat pumps and, in limited circumstances, biomass boilers. The scheme is open to both domestic and small non-domestic properties.
