Council Housing: Repairs and Maintenance

Question to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities:

To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, pursuant to the Answer of 20 July 2017 to Question 4988, on council housing: repairs and maintenance, what criteria will be used to determine whether local authorities lack financial resources that would prevent refurbishment work going ahead.

The Government will consider the removal of financial restrictions where financial barriers stand in the way of essential work being done. Essential work would include circumstances where local fire services advise essential fire safety works are required to make a building safe. We will work with local authorities who approach us on a case by case basis.
