Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the name is of the terrorist armed group of the two men killed in Mali by British peacekeepers on 20 October 2021.
UK Armed Forces, deployed on peacekeeping operations, were engaged by two armed individuals while conducting routine assurance patrols. They returned fire, killing those two individuals, who are most likely to have been members of one of the terrorist armed groups operating in Mali and across the region. Our forces acted lawfully, pursuant to the inherent right of self-defence and in accordance with MINUSMA's mandate under Chapter VII of the UN Charter.
