Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what assessment she has made of the merits of the European Accessibility Act for deaf and disabled artists; and what plans she has to replicate or improve on this legislation when the UK leaves the EU.

The proposed European Accessibility Act does not have any specific provisions related to deaf or disabled artists, as distinct from other consumers. However the UK already has strong legislation in place to improve accessibility for disabled people across a range of sectors, and to provide protection from discrimination. This will be taken into account as we consider the impact of leaving the EU on all legislation that has effect in the UK.
