The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is funded from two sources of income: Grant In Aid annual allocation by the Department, and fees income levied annually on the health and social care providers that the CQC regulates.

The CQC’s indicative budget for 2017-18 of £230 million comprises £34 million Grant In Aid allocation. The remainder of the budget represents fee income of £196 million.
