As part of my Every Voice Matters Tour, I have held roundtable discussions with various organisations that represent people with disabilities to further understand the barriers disabled people face in engaging in the democratic process and to find possible solutions. A number of issues are being considered by the Cabinet Office-chaired Accessibility of Elections Group, which includes representatives from Mencap, Royal National Institute Of Blind People (RNIB), the Association of Electoral Administrators and the Electoral Commission, to support the Government’s commitment to making the electoral system fully accessible for all elections.
