Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what the total amount of benefits paid to non-UK citizens living in the UK was in 2016 by benefit type.

DWP’s social security benefit system does not contain information on the nationality of the claimant.

However, we have published an ad-hoc report on DWP benefit expenditure on EEA national-led claims in 2013/14, by benefit type. Additionally, in August 2016, HMRC published information on Tax Credits and Child Benefit expenditure for EEA nationals in 2013/14.
