Question to the Department for Education:
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what progress he has made on implementing the new Relationship and Sex Education curriculum in early adopter schools.
All schools are encouraged to start teaching the new subjects of Relationship Education (primary), Relationships and Sex Education (secondary), and Health Education (primary and secondary state-funded schools) from this academic year.
By 30 June 2019, over 1,600 schools had registered their interest in becoming early adopters of the new compulsory subjects. We are hosting 4 regional conferences in October and November 2019 for these schools. The key aim of the conferences is to ensure that schools are on track to deliver high-quality teaching, with a focus on knowledge-rich curriculum planning.
