The Government first announced that it was working with the Green Investment Bank (GIB) on options to introduce private capital into GIB in the Autumn Statement 2013.

Since then, Government and GIB have continued to work together to facilitate the introduction of private capital into GIB, including into its offshore wind assets. A two stage auction process for the GIB was formally launched on 3 March 2016, as set out in the Government’s report to Parliament of the same day. The detail of the sale process is commercially confidential.
