Question to the Home Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what proportion of (a) police officers operating and (b) people under 25 years of age in the London Borough of Southwark are from black and ethnic minority backgrounds.

The Home Office collects and publishes data annually on the ethnicity of the police workforce in each Police Force Area. Data are not collected at lower levels of geography, such as London Boroughs.

The latest available data are published in the “Police Workforce, England and Wales, 31 March 2016” statistical bulletin:

Population data are published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The 2011 Census data include breakdowns of the population by age and ethnicity. These can be found here:
