Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:
To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, in what circumstances work-related activities will be required from a claimant of universal credit who has been signed off work by a GP but has not yet undertaken a work capability assessment; and if he will make a statement.
Claimants have to meet certain requirements in order to receive their Universal Credit payment. This will be based on individual and household information, characteristics and earnings. Work-related requirements are set in discussion with the claimant, tailored to their capability and circumstances, taking into account any health condition or disability they may have. The requirements a claimant is asked to meet will be clearly set out in their Claimant Commitment.
