Question to the Home Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate she has made of the number of (a) plots to commit extremist acts and (b) such plots prevented in each of the last 10 years.
The Home Office does not hold this information.
The police in England and Wales do not judge ‘extremism’ to be either a criminal or civil offence. As a consequence they do not collect or store the data within the parameters requested.
New criminal offences may be considered by the Counter Extremism Commission.
